Welcome to Closer, a personalized app designed exclusively for couples to enhance their relationship experience. Your privacy is of utmost importance to us. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information.

1. Introduction

By using Closer, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with any part of this Privacy Policy, please do not use our app.

2. Eligibility

Closer is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18. If we become aware that a user under 18 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information.

3. Information We Collect, and How we use your information

• Personal Information
  • User Attributes: Name, age, gender, email, phone number and relationship type
  • Device Information: Type of device used to access the app
• Usage Data: Usage data of features like stickies, quiz cards, well-being & organize is stored on our servers to provide an archive, history and enable seamless device switching. An aggregate form of such data might be used occasionally for trend analysis and feature improvement, but without any data being linked to an individual user.
• Sensitive Information: Your chats and photos shared in Moments (stories, memories, #throwback cards) are protected with end-to-end encryption and stored locally on your device. Chats and photos shared and received by partners are not and cannot be accessed by Closer, due to end-to-end encryption.
• Unpairing: In case you do not wish to continue using Closer with your partner, you can 'Unpair' your account from Profile. This will remove the connection with your partner in Closer and you will be logged out of Closer. Your partner will be unable to use the app after that, and they will also be nudged to log out of Closer. Once unpaired and logged out, you will not be able to access any data (including backed up data) shared with your partner in Closer. When you unpair, we save your basic details like name, age, phone number & e-mail, so that you don't have to enter those details again. You can use Closer again with a new partner when required, by adding or sharing a new pairing code.
• Deleting your account: You can chose to completely delete your account on Closer from Profile. This will erase your current connection with your partner, and remove all user info collected in Closer. If you wish to use Closer again, you can sign up as a new user and pair with your partner again.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

• We do not sell any personally identifiable information to third-party agencies or brands

• Aggregated usage data in terms of the type of activity on the app are shared with a third-party analytics platform to assess feature adoption, potential issues, and thereby improve the app experience. The data shared does not include the contents of the user activity, it only contains the type of activity performed on the app.

• We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.

5. Data Security

• Encryption: All chats and photos in Moments are end-to-end encrypted, and such sensitive data stays on your phones and is not stored in our servers, once shared and received by the partners.

• Backup: Data can be backed up and restored via your Google Drive account. Backup and restoration is facilitated through your Google Drive account, so that you can always retain your data when you switch devices. The backed-up data in your Google drive account is also formatted in a way so that it can be accessed from only within the Closer app.
